Indian doctors remove 232 teeth from teenager’s mouth after he complained of toothache – And this story is what dental nightmares are made of. A young man goes to a dentist with a toothache…and ends up having to have a seven hour procedure to remove 232 teeth! *shudders*
Doctors in India were stunned to find that a teen complaining of toothache had a world record 232 fangs inside his mouth.
Ashik Gavai, 17, visited Sir J.J. Hospital in Mumbai after feeling pain in the right side of his mouth.
At first, medics couldn’t diagnose the issue.
But a series of tests then revealed there was an abnormal growth on the second molar on his lower right jaw.
After further investigation, doctors were shocked to find scores of tiny teeth popping out.
“These pearlies were of varying sizes, some as tiny as a grain of mustard and some the size of a marble,” said Dr Sunanda Dhivare-Palwankar, head of the hospital’s dental department, according to the India Times.
Medics at Sir J.J. Hospital in Mumbai spent seven hours hammering and chiseling out the teeth.
“At the final count, we had a total of 232 of them. The fact that it was coming from a single molar was very unique,” she added.
