New ‘Scooby-Doo’ Movie ‘Curses’ Daphne From Size 2 to Size 8 – Because the worst thing that can happen to a woman is to “curse” her to gain weight. /sarcasm

…when Daphne comes face-to-face with the bad guy, she is “cursed” with losing the thing that she holds most dear: her small frame. With a simple hex, the cartoon character instantaneously balloons from a size 2 to a (cover your eyes!) size 8.

Considering the average clothing size American women wear is a size 14 (plus-size is considered anything over 12) and that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average woman in the United States is about 5’4” and weighs 166 pounds, being a size 8 shouldn’t be considered the worst thing that could possibly happen to Daphne, or any woman for that matter.

Check Out Spider-Woman #1, Starring Spider-Woman’s Ass
– You gotta look at those photos plus check out the Less Tits N’ Ass, More Kickin’ Ass for some awesome do-overs. But seriously, while I love a good presentation as much as the next gal, I kinda find it laughable that she’s “face down, ass up,” her legs are spread so far apart that I can assume she’s prepping for a pap smear AND I can see the complete crack of her ass. Wow.

Oh, Marvel. Come on. You know better than this —this being Milo Manara’s cover for the upcoming Spider-Woman #1. If you’re wondering what the hell Jessica Drew, a.k.a. Spider-Woman is doing, I believe it’s what’s known in the animal kingdom as “presenting.”

Woman has Sex with Dog, Tries to Murder Witnesses – I’m speechless

Police arrested a New Mexico woman, Shari Walters, 53, after she tried to poison her roommates when they discovered she had been having sex with two German shepherds and called the cops on her.

Walters … admitted to putting rubbing alcohol (poisonous) in both roommates’ water, as well as toilet bowl cleaner (also poisonous) in their food.

Pageant Mom Fed Her Daughter Tapeworms to Make Her Skinnier
– Because “what price beauty?,” right? *gag* I hope no one else thinks this is a good idea.

Cabral-Osorio said that a teenage girl came into the emergency department complaining of stomach pains…

It was not until the girl went to the bathroom, though, did they figure out exactly what the ‘something’ was.

It was a toilet bowl full of tapeworms!” the nurse said. ”It was so gross and she had pooped all these tapeworms. There were a couple that were very long and wiggling around trying to get out of the toilet bowl.”

She added that the medical staff could not figure out how the girl could have possibly have gotten a tapeworm infestation in her gut.”We were wondering, how did she get those tapeworms? And then we saw the mother turn white.”

Turns out, the mother had put tapeworm eggs in her child’s food so that she would lose a few extra pounds.

Cop to see tot he saved in ’94 become a bride – We’re seeing a lot in the news about police brutality and the militarization of the police force – things that terrify the general population and separate us from those who are supposed to protect us. It’s nice to see a reminder that real police officers do serve and protect – and when they do lives are changed for the better.

A young Palestinian-American nursing school graduate in Buffalo and a career police officer from Yonkers ordinarily might not have much in common.

But fate brought the two together 20 years ago, after 2-month-old Shammarah Hamideh went limp and stopped breathing. It was then-Sgt. Joseph Barca who arrived first outside the apartment building where the father stood crying with a lifeless baby in his arms. Barca cleared an airway obstruction and breathed life back into her on the way to the hospital.

On Aug. 17, Hamideh will be married outside Chicago. Barca and his wife, Helen, will be there.

Before graduation, a moment with the mom he never knew – This story made me reach for the tissue. This young man started life with a disadvantage – born on the same day his mother was murdered – but you can tell he wants to do something with his life that would make his mother proud. Graduating from high school is just the first step.

His blue gown swaying in the breeze and a tassel dangling from the mortarboard on his head, Tyshon Malik Williams stood before his mother’s tombstone.

He let himself shed one tear but no more. No crying, he thought, today is a happy day. He knelt in the fresh-cut grass and started talking.

“Mom, I’m graduating today,” he began.

Arizona teacher accused of being drunk in class – It’s funny but it’s sad at the same time. It seems this teacher has been fired for being drunk at work in the past. How did she get another teaching job??

Jardine initially denied being intoxicated. She later admitted that she had been drinking the night before, that morning and during lunch in her classroom.

The math teacher had a blood-alcohol level of 0.205 percent, which is 2 1/2 times the legal limit for drivers. A school security officer found a bottle of vodka, a bottle of white wine and a bottle of Sunny D orange drink in her classroom. Authorities said Jardine told them she took a taxi to school because she thought she was too intoxicated to drive.

Woman critical after drinking chemical-laced tea
– This one is pretty scary. Somehow the chemicals used to degrease deep fryers was confused with sugar.

…the tea was laced with a highly toxic industrial cleaning solution meant for degreasing deep fryers, authorities said. It contained the odorless chemical lye, the active ingredient in drain cleaners.

Four days later, Harding was in critical condition Thursday at a Salt Lake City hospital’s burn unit, unable to talk and fighting for her life, lawyer Paxton Guymon said. She hasn’t improved since Sunday, when she and her husband went to Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in South Jordan after church.

Investigators and the restaurant manager have told the Hardings that a worker mistook the cleaning product for sugar and accidentally mixed large quantities of it into the iced-tea dispenser, Guymon said.

The Suburbs Made Us Fat – I hate to say it but I think I agree with this article. I lived in a large city for years. Although we had a car – we rarely drove it. We did a lot of walking and biking instead – in fact I averaged about 4-5 miles of biking per day just getting back and forth to work, let alone doing anything else. Now I live in a suburb. It’s a beautiful suburb with wide tree-lined streets and lots of safe cul-de-sacs. And I’m getting fat. I’ve gained over 20 pounds from my city weight – and this is with exercising 45mins-1 hour a day (5 days a week). I want to move back to the city.

Man Dies After Vibrator Gets Stuck In Rectum – WTF?! All I can say is…be careful in your play.

A 50-year-old British man died earlier this year after a vibrator became stuck in his rectum, a coroner’s inquest heard Tuesday. Nigel Willis, who was unemployed and lived with his elderly mother, was rushed to Lewisham Hospital on Dec. 30, 2013 after the sex toy got stuck inside him for five days.

Dirty Bird Fried Chicken Arouses Controversy With Logo Resembling Penis – Because you can’t make be believe they didn’t see that. LOL!

A catering company called Dirty Bird Fried Chicken aroused some controversy with its suggestive logo.

Some people who see the logo think it resembles a rooster. Others think it resembles a penis at the point of no return.

Mark James, the logo’s designer insists it’s supposed to be a barnyard bird.

Korean restaurant in Beijing found reusing customers’ leftover food – This is just disgusting. Simply disgusting. A restaurant in China was caught serving leftover and contaminated food to customers – like raw fish picked up from the ground after it had been stepped on and/or kicked. *shudder* No more Korean BBQs for me.

A Korean barbecue restaurant in Beijing was exposed by reporters for serving leftover food and fish abandoned on the ground near trash bins to customers.

…The reporters found that staff of the restaurant would collect uncooked food remains, particularly meat from other customers’ trays, and serve them.

That day, after the lunch rush, more than 10 trays were filled with food remains from other customers, including fish, lunch meat, prawns, beef and watermelon slices. The trays of food were taken to the back of the kitchen, where staff would tidy up the appearance, then taken out again from the front kitchen to the food area.

“All these food remains and uncooked food need to be sent to the back kitchen and taken out from the front kitchen. Then, no one suspects anything,” one staff member explained to one of the reporters undercover.

Boy, 6, drives toy ATV onto NYC parkway – Just last week I posted a link to an article about a 3 year old who crashed a car into a house. Well, I think I may have just found his older brother! This 6 year old decided to take his toy car onto a real highway:

A 6-year-old boy is safe after driving his toy ATV onto a New York City highway.
Authorities say the child rode the battery-powered toy onto the Bronx River Parkway around 7 p.m. Sunday.
He was on an outing with his family in a Mount Vernon park when he disappeared. Relatives immediately notified police.
The Journal News says that Westchester County police began receiving 911 calls less than an hour later about the boy. Police say he drove on a street near the park and took a ramp onto the parkway headed northbound.

Man accused of putting needles in packaged meat
– A man decides – “just for the hell of it” – to tamper with food by inserting sewing needles in raw meats. Thank God no one was hurt.

The criminal complaint filed Wednesday against Ronald Avers said one buyer of boneless chuck roast at the Shop ‘n Save store in Belleville just east of St. Louis later bit into one of the needles, and a needle slipped into a steak stuck another customer.
FBI Special Agent Daniel Cook, in an affidavit filed with the criminal complaint, wrote that Shop ‘n Save alerted him July 9 of the tampering, which dated to May of last year, when a customer first reported finding a needle in a package of ground beef. Roughly four months later, Cook wrote, a store employee found a needle sticking out of a package of pork chops. Customers later reported finding needles in everything from ground beef to roasts and steaks.

Utah man fired after boss complains blog post about homophones made school sound gay – An Educator/Blogger gets fired from his job after writing a blog post explaining “homophones.” The reason? Fear that the ‘school is going to be associated with homosexuality.” O_O Bwahhahahahahahahaha. No. I want to refuse to believe that anyone is that stupid. But alas, I’m sure they are.

A “social media strategist” for a Utah school serving foreign students said he was fired after his school’s owner reprimanded him for the allegedly gay connotations of a blog post concerning homophones, the Salt Lake City Tribune reported.

“People at this level of English may see the ‘homo’ side and think it has something to do with gay sex.” the owner, Clarke Woodger, allegedly told Tim Torkildson while firing him last week.

“I’m letting you go because I can’t trust you,” Woodger allegedly said. “This blog about homophones was the last straw. Now our school is going to be associated with homosexuality.”

Woodger also allegedly complained that he didn’t know what homophones — words that sound identical while having different meanings and spellings — were, and that it was the kind of “advanced stuff” Nomen did not teach its students. He also accused Torkildson of not being reliable enough to continue working for the school.

Girl Spent 9 Years in Garage, Fed Only Bread and Water by Foster Parents in Cult – This just shows that all the foster systems need a LOT of work. A lot.

When officers removed the girl from the garage she weighed fewer than 45 pounds. Reportedly, her foster parents only fed her bread and water during her entire nine year captivity.

The girl said she had only been outside of the garage twice, and was kept in the garage with a monkey and dog. The girl claimed that whenever her foster parents would feed the animals—seemingly leftovers of their own meals—she would be physically abused if she tried to eat any. The foster parents have since been arrested and charged with abuse and slavery. The girl is recuperating in intensive care in a Buenos Aires hospital.

Think your HOA is strict? Try an Asian city – I live in an HOA community…and it’s quite annoying most of the time. I could not imagine having to deal with THIS:

Crystal Nanavati, a blogger from Boston who moved to Singapore in 2010, once got a visit from a “mosquito inspector” who wanted to check for stagnant water in her home. The inspector examined her balconies, bathrooms and planters, looking for areas ripe for mosquitoes — carriers of the deadly dengue fever. Though he didn’t find anything that warranted the standard $200 fine, he noted a vase of dying flowers from her recent wedding anniversary. “He told me to deal with the flowers that day,” says Nanavati, who lives in a 1,400-square-foot apartment in the central district near Orchard Road with her husband and children. “That the state can come in and evaluate your house, even for a public health risk, is awkward at best.”

In some of Asia’s fastest-growing and most densely populated cities, developers, building managers and municipal authorities have implemented a variety of rules and regulations to keep residential life running smoothly. That can mean strict guidelines governing everything from cooking to pet ownership to elevator use — a bewildering tangle of laws for expats and other new arrivals.
